The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 193 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Download the latest version of this resource data as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A) or the resource metadata as EML or RTF:
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Fungi, Ascomycetes, Basidiomycetes associated with Erica mammosa and Erica versicolor roots. Data set includes details of collection of Erica mammosa and Erica versicolor and of the isolates, with reference for sequence data. Several isolates unidentified, or identified as new species. Genera included: Calcarisporiella, Cryptococcus, Cryptosporiopsis, Fusarium, Leohumicola, Oidiodendron, Penicillium, Sporobolomyces, Sporothrix
|Phylum||Fungi, Ascomycetes, Basidiomycetes, Erica mammosa, Erica versicolor (Fungi)|
|Start Date / End Date||2010-03-18 / 2013-01-31|
ARISA (Automated ribosomal intergenic spacer analysis) analysis was done on a number of roots from a variety of fynbos sites, and data comparisons were done to compare the endophytic community both within different regions of root systems, between individual plants, and between different nature reserves, to determine if any significant patterns of association exist.
|Study Extent||Western Cape: City of Cape Town, Helderberg Nature Reserve; Stellenbosch, Jonkershoek Nature Reserve; Swartland, Riverlands-Pella research station|
|Quality Control||No data verification or cleaning done. Co-ordinates for some samples are in deg,min,sec and others for deg,decimal mins (highlighted). Probable error in format for some of the latitudes - stated as seconds rather than minutes.|
Method step description:
- The data includes endophytes isolated from Erica mammosa roots which were cultured, and then DNA was extracted and sequenced.
